The Los Angeles Artist Census (LAAC) is an artist-run research initiative that gathers and publishes data about the lives and practices of LA County visual artists.
In 2022 we published our first newspaper including artists’ commentary on quantitative data covering artists’ experiences with healthcare, studio space, art income and expenses and more!
The report was co-authored by Tatiana Vahan and myself, designed by Neil Doshi, and Dr. Sara Constantino provided analysis consultation. The report also includes artwork commissions by artists Angel Alvarado, Ian Byers-Gamber and York Chang, as well as quotes by Trish T. Minh-ha.
